History
In the 1950s, forestry engineer Dr. Norman Franz experimented with an early form of water jet cutter to cut lumber. However, the technology did not advance notably until the 1970s when Dr. Mohamed Hashish created a technique to add abrasives to the water jet cutter. Today the water jet is unparalleled in many aspects of cutting and has changed the way many products are manufactured. Many types of water jets exist today, including plain water jets, abrasive water jets, percussive water jets, cavitation jets and hybrid jets.
Operation

The cutter is commonly connected to a high-pressure water pump where the water is then ejected from the nozzle, cutting through the material by spraying it with the jet of high-speed water. Additives in the form of suspended grit or other abrasives, such as garnet and aluminum oxide, can assist in this process , dr brush cutter .

An important benefit of the water jet cutter is the ability to cut material without interfering with the material's inherent structure as there is no "heat-affected zone" or HAZ. Minimizing the effects of heat allows metals to be cut without harming or changing intrinsic properties , diamond bits .
Water jet cutters are also capable of producing rather intricate cuts in material. The kerf, or width, of the cut can be changed by changing parts in the nozzle, as well as the type and size of abrasive. Typical abrasive cuts are made with a kerf in the range of 0.04" to 0.05" (1.016 to 1.27 mm), but can be as narrow as 0.02" (0.508 mm). Non-abrasive cuts are normally 0.007" to 0.013" (0.178 to 0.33 mm), but can be as small as 0.003" (0.076 mm), which is approximately the size of a human hair. These small cutters can make very small detail possible in a wide range of applications , offset wrenches .
Waterjet is considered a "green" technology. Waterjets produce no hazardous waste, reducing waste disposal costs. They can cut off large pieces of reusable scrap material that might have been lost using traditional cutting methods. Parts can be closely nested to maximize material use, and the waterjet saves material by creating very little kerf. Waterjets use very little water (a half gallon to approximately one gallon per minute depending on cutting head orifice size), and the water that is used can be recycled using a closed-looped system. Waste water usually is clean enough to filter and dispose of down a drain. The garnet abrasive is a non-toxic natural substance that can be recycled for repeated use. Garnet usually can be disposed of in a landfill. Waterjets also eliminate airborne dust particles, smoke, fumes, and contaminates from cutting materials such as asbestos and fiberglass. This greatly improves the work environment and reduces problems arising from operator exposure.
Versatility
Because the nature of the cutting stream can be easily modified the waterjet can be used in nearly every industry. There are many different materials that the waterjet can cut. Some of them have unique characteristics that require special attention when cutting. Each material cut will have some unique characteristics that have to be taken into account.
Materials commonly cut with waterjet include rubber, foam, plastics, composites, stone, tile, metals, food, paper and much more. Materials that cannot be cut with waterjet are tempered glass, diamonds and certain ceramics.
Water jet cuts are not typically limited by the thickness of the material, and are capable of cutting materials over eighteen inches (45 cm) thick. The penetrating power of these tools has led to the exploration of their use as anti-tank weapons but, due to their short range and the advent of composite armour, research was discontinued.
Availability
Commercial water jet cutting systems are available from manufacturers all over the world, in a range of sizes, and with water pumps capable of a range of pressures. Typical water jet cutting machines have a working envelope as small as a few square feet, or up to hundreds of square feet. Ultra-high pressure water pumps are available from as low as 40,000 psi (276 MPa) up to 90,000 psi (621 MPa).
Process
There are six main process characteristics to water jet cutting:
Uses a high velocity stream of abrasive particles suspended in a stream of Ultra High Pressure Water (30,000 - 90,000 psi) which is produced by a Waterjet Intensifier Pump
Is used for machining a large array of materials, including heat-sensitive, delicate or very hard materials.
Produces no heat damage to workpiece surface or edges.
Nozzles are typically made of sintered boride.
Produces a taper of less than 1 degree on most cuts, which can be reduced or eliminated entirely by slowing down the cut process.
Distance of nozzle from workpiece affects the size of the kerf and the removal rate of material. Typical distance is .125".
Temperature is not as much of a factor.

A U.S. Army aviator uses a pair of helmet-mounted AN/AVS-6 vision goggles.
A night vision device (NVD) is an optical instrument that allows images to be produced in levels of light approaching total darkness. They are most often used by the military and law enforcement agencies, but are available to civilian users. The term usually refers to a complete unit, including an image intensifier tube, a protective and generally water-resistant housing, and some type of mounting system. Many NVDs also include sacrificial lenses, IR illuminators, and telescopic lenses.
Night vision devices were first used in World War II, and came into wide use during the Vietnam War. The technology has evolved greatly since their introduction, leading to several "generations" of night vision equipment with performance increasing and price decreasing.

Generations
The classification below was initially introduced by the US manufacturers through the US government. European manufacturers do not abide by it.
Generation 0
The first night vision devices, the M1 and M3 infrared night sighting devices, also known as the "sniperscope" or "snooperscope", were introduced by the US Army in World War II, and also used in the Korean War, to assist snipers. They were active devices, using a large infrared light source to illuminate targets. Their image intensifier tubes function using an anode and an S-1 photocathode, made primarily of silver, caesium, and oxygen to accelerate the electrons. Parallel development of night vision systems by AEG occurred in Nazi Germany, and by the end of World War II, it had equipped approximately 50 Panther tanks, which saw combat on both the Eastern and Western Fronts, and produced the "Vampir" man-portable system for infantry soldiers equipped with Sturmgewehr 44 assault rifles.
Generation 1 (GEN I)

First generation passive devices, introduced during the Vietnam War, were an adaptation of earlier active GEN 0 technology, and rely on ambient light instead of an infrared light source. Using an S-20 photocathode, their image intensifiers produce a light amplification of around 1000x, but are quite bulky and require moonlight to function properly.

Generation 2 (GEN II)
Second generation devices featured an improved image-intensifier tube utilizing micro-channel plate (MCP) with an S-25 photocathode, resulting in a much brighter image, especially around edges of the lens. This leads to increased illumination in low ambient light environments, such as moonless nights. Light amplification is around 20000x. Also improved were image resolution and reliability.

Later advancements in GEN II technology has brought tactical characteristics of GEN II devices into the range of GEN III ones, which has complicated the reasonable comparison.
Generation 3 (GEN III)
An early development version of the AN/PVS-7 goggle.
Third generation night vision systems maintain the MCP from Gen II, but now use a photocathode made with gallium arsenide, which further improves image resolution. In addition, the MCP is coated with an ion barrier film for increased tube life. The light amplification is also improved to around 30000-50000x.

Omnibus-VII
The US Army Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate (NVESD) (http://www.nvl.army.mil/) is part of the governing body that dictates the name of the generation of night vision technologies. Although the recent increased performance associated with the GEN-III OMNI-VII components is impressive, the US Army has not yet authorized the use of the name GEN-IV for these components.
GEN-III OMNI-VII devices can differ from standard Generation 3 in two important ways. First, an automatic gated power supply system regulates the photocathode voltage, allowing the NVD to instantaneously adapt to changing light conditions. The second, is a removed or greatly thinned ion barrier, which decreases the amount of electrons that are usually rejected by the Standard GEN III MCP, hence resulting in less image noise and the ability to operate with a luminous sensitivity at 2850K of only 700, compared to operating with a luminous sensitivity of at least 1800 for GEN III type image intensifiers. The disadvantage to a thin or removed ion barrier is the overall decrease in tube life from a theoretical 20,000 hrs mean time to failure (MTTF) for Gen III type, to 15,000 hrs MTTF for GEN IV type. However, this is largely negated by the low numbers of image intensifier tubes that reach 15,000 hrs of operation before replacement.
It is important to note that while the consumer market classifies this type of system as "Generation 4", the United States military describes these systems as Generation 3 Autogated tubes (GEN-III OMNI-VII). Moreover, as autogating power supplies can now be added to any previous generation of nightvision, 'autogating' capability does not automatically class the devices as a GEN-III OMNI-VII, as seen with the XD-4. Another point to note is that any postnominals appearing after a Generation type (ie: Gen II +, Gen III +) does not change the generation type of the device, but instead indicates an advancement(s) over the original specification's requirements.

Though image intensification technology employed by different manufacturers varies, from the tactical point of view night vision system is an optical device that enables vision at low light. The US government itself has recognised the fact that technology itself makes little difference as long as an operator can see clearly at night. Consequently the United States base their export regulation not on the generations, but on calculated factor called Figure of Merit (FOM). The method of FOM calculation and its implications for export are briefly described in the publication of the National Defense University, USA in a document named he NATO Response Force16] authored by Jeffrey P. Bialos, the Executive Director of the Transatlantic Security and Industry Program at the Johns Hopkins University and Stuart L. Koehl, a Fellow at the Center for Transatlantic Relations of the same university.
... beginning in 2001, the U.S. implemented a new figure of merit (FOM) system for determining the release of night vision technology. FOM is an abstract measure of image tube performance, derived from the number of line pairs per millimeter multiplied by the tube's signal-to-noise ratio." US made tubes with a FOM greater than 1600 are not exportable outside the US.

The United States Air Force is experimenting with Panoramic Night Vision Goggles (PNVGs) which double the user's field of view to around 95 degrees by using four 16 mm image intensifiers tubes, rather than the more standard two 18 mm tubes. They are in service with A-10 Thunderbolt II, MC-130 Combat Talon and AC-130U Spooky aircrews.
The PSQ-20, manufactured by ITT seeks to combine thermal imaging with image intensification, as does the Northrop Grumman Fused Multispectral Weapon Sight.

Viyella

Viyella was a blend of wool and cotton first woven in 1893 in England, and soon to be the "first branded fabric in the world". It was made of 55 per cent merino wool and 45 per cent cotton in a twill weave, developed by James and Robert Sissons of William Hollins & Company, spinners and hosiers. The brand name, first registered as a trademark in 1894, and registered in the United States in 1907, soon covered not only the original fabric, to be sold by the yard (piece goods), but also clothing. At first this was made by separate businesses, but it was not long before Hollins started producing their own clothes and offering franchises to manufacturers who would use the Viyella label. Following increasing emphasis on garment manufacture over the years, Viyella is now a fashion brand for clothes and home furnishings made of a variety of fabrics. The original wool/cotton blend is no longer on sale.
"Following an assessment of the current economic situation and the prospects for the future, the directors have reluctantly decided that they have no alternative but to place the business into administration," the company said in a statement. 7th January 2009 statement from Viyella.

The fabric
Viyella was a soft dress-weight fabric which was more resistant to shrinkage than any comparable pure wool alternative (challis, for example). In its early years it was marketed as a fabric which combined lightness and fashion with warmth and durability. One 1920s advertisement called it a "guaranteed unshrinkable fine wool flannel" for women who wanted both "daintiness" and "protectiveness". By the early 20th century it came in various weights and widths, some rather narrow by today's standards, and in both plain colours and woven or printed patterns, and was exported from the United Kingdom to other English-speaking countries. Towards the end of the 20th century it was woven in 150cm wide lengths suitable for modern garment design and production.
The first ready-made garments using Viyella were shirts and nightgowns, and soon came dresses, slips and other clothing, much of it produced under franchise arrangements using the Viyella trademark. It was also made into sheets, and at one time Viyella yarn was available for home knitting.
In the mid-20th century the fabric was popular for children's clothes - from babies' nightgowns to winter shirts for British schoolchildren - and for pyjamas, shirts and dresses; it became associated with sensible, cosy clothing. Officers in the British and other Commonwealth armies purchased their uniforms during the Second World War, and Viyella shirts were a desirable option for them. In the late 20th century it was 're-invented' as fashionable fabric. In 1987 The Times said it was used by designers interested in "vintage" style, like Laura Ashley, and creators of "modern classics".
Clydella was a cheaper, less soft alternative made with 81 per cent cotton, produced at factories in the Clydeside area, including Glasgow and Hamilton, where many yards of Viyella were also woven.
Hollins also produced the related Dayella cloth used especially for babies' clothes.
The companies
The name Viyella is based on the unusually-named valley road, Via Gellia, (the A5012) near Matlock, where in 1890 Hollins & Co acquired a mill used for the early production of Viyella. Hollins had started business in 1784 in Pleasley, about 20 miles away on the Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire border. Later their offices were at Viyella House in Nottingham.
After a merger in 1961, Hollins became Viyella International, led by Joe Hyman, who in the next few years acquired a series of related companies, with Viyella growing to be one of the biggest textile businesses in the UK, owning 40 factories across the country. After a few years as Carrington Viyella and then Vantona Viyella, the company owning the brand became Coats Viyella (Coats Paton, now Coats plc), who in the 1980s built a new mill to produce Viyella cloth in Barrowford, Lancashire, but this was demolished in 1999. In the 21st century much of Coats manufacturing (now specialising in thread) has been moved abroad and it is no longer possible to buy Viyella fabric. Coats underwent major restructuring in 2002 and sold off its Viyella fashion retail business (and Jaeger) to entrepreneur Richard Thompson in 2003 for ?1, who re-sold Viyella weeks later to venture capitalist Harris Watson. Viyella Ladieswear has since added home furnishings to its range of goods. The fashion chain entered Administration on the 7th January 2009 citing "an assessment of the current economic situation and the prospects for the future" as the cause.
As of February 6th 2009, the upmarket retailer Austin Reed had agreed to buy Viyella for an undisclosed sum.

Autumn leaf color is a phenomenon that affects the normally green leaves of many deciduous trees and shrubs by which they take on, during a few weeks in the autumn season, one or many colors that range from red to yellow. The phenomenon is commonly called fall colors and autumn colors, while the expression fall foliage usually connotes the viewing of a tree or forest whose leaves have undergone the change. In some areas in the United States, and in much of Canada "leaf peeping" tourism between the beginning of color changes and the onset of leaf fall, or scheduled in hope of coinciding with that period, is a major contribution to economic activity.

Chlorophyll and the green color
A green leaf is green because of the presence of a pigment known as chlorophyll. When they are abundant in the leaf's cells, as they are during the growing season, the chlorophylls' green color dominates and masks out the colors of any other pigments that may be present in the leaf. Thus the leaves of summer are characteristically green.
In this leaf, the veins are still green while the other tissue is turning red.
Chlorophyll has a vital function: that of capturing solar rays and utilizing the resulting energy in the manufacture of the plant's food simple sugars which are produced from water and carbon dioxide. These sugars are the basis of the plant's nourishment the sole source of the carbohydrates needed for growth and development. In their food-manufacturing process, the chlorophylls themselves break down and thus are being continually "used up." During the growing season, however, the plant replenishes the chlorophyll so that the supply remains high and the leaves stay green.
In late summer, the veins that carry fluids into and out of the leaf are gradually closed off as a layer of special cork cells forms at the base of each leaf. As this cork layer develops, water and mineral intake into the leaf is reduced, slowly at first, and then more rapidly. It is during this time that the chlorophyll begins to decrease.
Often the veins will still be green after the tissues between them have almost completely changed color.
Pigments that contribute to other colors

Carotenoids are present in leaves the whole year round, but their orange-yellow colors are usually masked by chlorophyll. As autumn approaches, certain influences both inside and outside the plant cause the chlorophylls to be replaced at a slower rate than they are being used up. During this period, with the total supply of chlorophylls gradually dwindling, the "masking" effect slowly fades away. Then other pigments that have been present (along with the chlorophylls) in the cells all during the leaf's life begin to show through. These are carotenoids and they provide colorations of yellow, brown, orange, and the many hues in between.
The carotenoids occur, along with the chlorophyll pigments, in tiny structures called plastids within the cells of leaves. Sometimes they are in such abundance in the leaf that they give a plant a yellow-green color, even during the summer. Usually, however, they become prominent for the first time in autumn, when the leaves begin to lose their chlorophyll.
Carotenoids are common in many living things, giving characteristic color to carrots, corn, canaries, and daffodils, as well as egg yolks, rutabagas, buttercups, and bananas.
Their brilliant yellows and oranges tint the leaves of such hardwood species as hickories, ash, maple, yellow poplar, aspen, birch, black cherry, sycamore, cottonwood, sassafras, and alder. Carotenoids are the dominant pigment in coloration of about 15-30% of tree species.
Anthocyanins
The reds, the purples, and their blended combinations that decorate autumn foliage come from another group of pigments in the cells called anthocyanins. Unlike the carotenoids, these pigments are not present in the leaf throughout the growing season, but are actively produced towards the end of summer. They develop in late summer in the sap of the cells of the leaf, and this development is the result of complex interactions of many influences - both inside and outside the plant. Their formation depends on the breakdown of sugars in the presence of bright light as the level of phosphate in the leaf is reduced.[citation needed]
During the summer growing season, phosphate is at a high level. It has a vital role in the breakdown of the sugars manufactured by chlorophyll. But in the fall, phosphate, along with the other chemicals and nutrients, moves out of the leaf into the stem of the plant. When this happens, the sugar-breakdown process changes, leading to the production of anthocyanin pigments. The brighter the light during this period, the greater the production of anthocyanins and the more brilliant the resulting color display. When the days of autumn are bright and cool, and the nights are chilly but not freezing, the brightest colorations usually develop.
Anthocyanins temporarily color the edges of some of the very young leaves as they unfold from the buds in early spring. They also give the familiar color to such common fruits as cranberries, red apples, blueberries, cherries, strawberries, and plums.
Anthocyanins are present in about 10% of tree species in temperate regions, although in certain areas - most famously Maine, New England - up to 70% of tree species may produce the pigment. In autumn forests they appear vivid in the maples, oaks, sourwood, sweetgums, dogwoods, tupelos, cherry trees and persimmons. These same pigments often combine with the carotenoids' colors to create the deeper orange, fiery reds, and bronzes typical of many hardwood species.

Cell walls
The brown color of leaves is not the result of a pigment, but rather cell walls, which may be evident when no coloring pigment is visible.
Function of autumn colors
Deciduous plants were traditionally believed to shed their leaves in autumn primarily because the high costs involved in their maintenance would outweigh the benefits from photosynthesis during the winter period of low light availability and cold temperatures. In many cases this turned out to be over-simplistic - other factors involved include insect predation, water loss, and damage from high winds or snowfall.
Anthocyanins, responsible for red-purple coloration, are actively produced in autumn, but not involved in leaf-drop. What use is the production of pigments in leaves that are about to fall? A number of hypotheses have been proposed, which fall into two cageories: interaction with animals, and protection from non-biological factors.
Photoprotection
Some trees, such as this American sweetgum at Keokea, Maui, develop bold fall colors in subtropical areas.
According to the photoprotection theory, anthocyanins protects the leaf against the harmful effects of light at low temperatures. It is true that the leaves are about to fall and therefore it is not of extreme importance for the tree to protect them. Photo-oxidation and photo-inhibition, however, especially at low temperatures, make the process of reabsorbing nutrients less efficient. Alex Kendrick is an associate pastor at Sherwood Baptist Church, in Albany, Georgia. He has been there since 1999. He oversees the media ministry of the church, which includes Sherwood Pictures, the movie-creating entity that produced Flywheel (2003), Facing the Giants (2006), and Fireproof (2008). Kendrick is married to Christina Kendrick, and they have five children together, with another due in April.
Film career
Upon reading a survey that stated films have become more influential than churches, Kendrick set out to change the perception of movies in mainstream America. In the three movies Sherwood Pictures has produced, he co-wrote (with brother, Stephen Kendrick), acted and directed in all three. His latest film, Fireproof, grossed $33.5 million in the box office, making it the highest grossing independent film of 2008. The project went on to win Best Feature at the 2009 San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival, as well as the Epiphany Prize, the highest honor at the Movieguide Awards in Los Angeles. In addition to filmmaking, Alex has written three novels from his films with his brother, Stephen, and novelist Eric Wilson. His fourth book, The Love Dare, was also written with his brother, and spent several weeks on New York Times Best Seller list, reaching the number one spot on two different occasions.

Effect of water vapor
The addition of water vapor to air (making the air humid) reduces the density of the air, which may at first appear contrary to logic.
This occurs because the molecular mass of water (18) is less than the molecular mass of air (around 29). For any gas, at a given temperature and pressure, the number of molecules present is constant for a particular volume. So when water molecules (vapor) are introduced to the air, the number of air molecules must reduce by the same number in a given volume, without the pressure or temperature increasing. Hence the mass per unit volume of the gas (its density) decreases.
The density of humid air may be calculated as a mixture of ideal gases. In this case, the partial pressure of water vapor is known as the vapor pressure. Using this method, error in the density calculation is less than 0.2% in the range of ?10 to 50 . The density of humid air is found by:

Jimmy Two-Shoes (Cory Doran) - The eponymous main character. He is a perpetually optimistic, thrill-seeking 14-year-old boy. He has a mission to spread happiness to Miseryville which makes him a source irritation to Lucius Heinous who Jimmy nicknames "Lucy". He is often seen doing extreme activities despite Heloise's warnings, he often acts before he thinks. Jimmy is also clueless to the fact that Heloise has a crush on him, due to the fact that whenever she tries to do something nice, it always backfires and turns to an evil plan. It is shown to be almost impossible to get him upset and he is rather ignorant of the faults in others. He also owns a pet monster named Cerbee, who's demeanor is very similar to that of a dog. Jimmy and Heloise are possibly the only two humans in Miseryville. Mostly, you don't see Jimmy's or Heloise's parents around in the show.
Beezy J. Heinous (Brian Froud) - Jimmy's best friend, a giant, overweight, red devil-like monster. He is the clueless teenage son of Lucius Heinous the Seventh. He would rather hang out with Jimmy and Heloise than spread misery, much to his father's dismay. Because of this he has an estranged relationship with his father.
Heloise (Tabitha St. Germain) - A super-intelligent yet destructive small girl. She is seen as a mad scientist who enjoys spreading chaos wherever she goes though she has a the appearance of a diminutive,sweet little girl. She works for Lucius by creating weapons of mass destruction. She is also tactless, self-centered and sadistic. She has a school-girl crush on Jimmy and she doesn't care much about Beezy or Cerbee. Being nice is impossible for her no matter how hard she tries, which usually lasts 5-10 minutes, the evil side of her always wins over. If one looks very closely, they can see that she has a scar on her forehead, possibly from a job related accident. Jimmy and Heloise are possibly the only two humans in Miseryville.
Lucius Heinous the Seventh (Sean Cullen) - The tyrant ruler of Miseryville. He resembles a devil-like creature having red skin and horns. He has great contempt for Jimmy, because of his happy-go-lucky attitude which often acts a foil to his plots to make the town even more miserable. He resembles the stereotypical villain as he is cold, malevalent, narcissistic and self-serving. He has a son, Beezy, who rebels against his wishes which he blames Jimmy for. He also has a girlfriend named Jess who resembles a purple cat humanoid cat. He's an idiot when it comes to make new, miserable ideas.
Sammy - Lucius' assistant who has dreams of fame. He is rather timid and weak and is often verbally abused by his boss.

Regenerative Receiver Schematic
Regenerative circuits were employed in early radio receivers and are still built by electronics experimenters and students. A regenerative circuit is often an AM detector, converting the RF signal on the antenna to an audio waveform. Their use of positive feedback greatly increases both the selectivity and sensitivity of a simple receiver. Positive feedback builds up the input signal to very high levels.
For AM signals, the detector is kept operating just below RF oscillation. For single sideband and the unmodulated RF used in code reception, the circuit is operated at a level above oscillation to provide the necessary "beat note" (heterodyne), as these two transmission modes require a local oscillation to be understood.
Although vacuum tubes were used on the early designs, modern transistors (bipolar, JFET etc.) are often used today. Typical regenerative gains for these devices are: bipolar transistor, 100,000; JFET 20,000, and vacuum tube: a few thousand. This is quite dramatic considering the fact that the non regenerative gain of these devices (at RF frequencies) is very low (often 20 or less). In addition to increasing gain, regeneration also greatly improves selectivity (simply stated the ability to separate stations on a crowded band).
A final, often overlooked benefit is that regenerative radios, like their tuned-radio-frequency cousins, tend to provide very high quality, low distortion audio. With a hi-fi shortwave broadcast, their sound quality can be quite impressive.
Regenerative circuits use fewer components than more complex designs but the regeneration level must be carefully adjusted by the user. In the early vacuum tube designs, the tube detector could easily operate as a transmitter, at power levels as high as one watt. So, it often caused interference to nearby receivers. Modern circuits, using semiconductors normally operate at milliwatt levels, one thousand times lower. So, interference is far less of a problem today. In any case, the addition of a preamp stage (RF stage) between the regenerative detector and the antenna is often used to further lower the interference.
Two common shortcomings of regenerative receivers are the presence of a characteristic noise (ush) in their audio output, and sensitive and unstable tuning . Both of these problems have the same cause: a regenerative receiver gain is greatest when it operates on the verge of oscillation, and in that condition, the circuit behaves chaotically.
History
The inventor of FM radio, Edwin Armstrong, invented and patented the regenerative circuit while he was a junior in college, in 1914. He patented the super-regenerative circuit in 1922, and the superheterodyne receiver in 1918.
Lee De Forest filed a patent in 1916 that became the cause of a contentious lawsuit with the prolific inventor Armstrong, whose patent for the regenerative circuit had been issued in 1914. The lawsuit lasted twelve years, winding its way through the appeals process and ending up at the Supreme Court. The Court ruled in favor of De Forest, although the experts agree that the incorrect judgement had been issued.[citation needed]
At the time the regenerative receiver was introduced, vacuum tubes were expensive and consumed lots of power, with the added expense and encumbrance of heavy batteries or AC transformer and rectifier. So this design, getting most gain out of one tube, filled the needs of the growing radio community and immediately thrived. Although the superheterodyne receiver is the most common receiver in use today, the regenerative radio made the most out of very few parts.
In WW2 the regenerative circuit was used in some early military equipment. A related circuit, the super-regenerative detector, found wide use in WW2 in military Friend or Foe identification equipment and in the top-secret proximity fuse, which had a very important role in winning the war for the allies.
Superheterodyne receiver
In 1906, Reginald Fessenden had already used a version of the heterodyne principle for broadcasting.
When the parts became easier to obtain, the superheterodyne receiver replaced the regenerative radio for all serious work. Then radio industry matured and prices dropped with increased production. In 1930 the superheterodyne design began to supplant the regenerative receiver, and after WWII it was almost completely phased out of mass production, remaining only in hobby kits.
Operating limits
Quality of a receiver is defined by its sensitivity and selectivity. For a single-tank TRF (tuned radio frequency) receiver without regenerative feedback, bandwidth = frequency / Q, where Q is tank "quality" defined as Q = Z / R, Z is reactive impedance, R is resistive loss. Signal voltage at tank is antenna voltage multiplied by Q.
Positive feedback compensates the energy loss caused by R, so we may express it as bringing in some negative R. Quality with feedback is Qreg = Z / (R ? Rneg). Regeneration rate is M = Qreg / Q = R / (R ? Rneg).
Obviously, M depends on stability of amplification and feedback coefficient, because if R-Rneg is set less than Rneg fluctuation, it will easily overstep the oscillation margin. This problem can be partly solved by "grid leak" or any kind of automatic gain control, but the downside of this is surrendering control over receiver to noises and fadings of input signal, which is undesirable. Note that modern semiconductors offer much more stability than vacuum tubes of the 1920s.
Actual numbers: To have 3kHz bandwidth at 12MHz (short waves travelling all around Earth) we need Q = F / f = 4000. A two-inch coil of thick silvered wire wound on a ceramic core may have Q up to 400, but let's suppose Q = 100. We need M = 40, which is attainable with good stable amplifier even without power stabilizing.
Super-regenerative receiver
The super-regenerative receiver uses a second lower frequency oscillation (within the same stage or by using a second oscillator stage) to provide single device circuit gains of around one million. This second oscillation periodically interrupts or "quenches" the main RF oscillation, allowing the RF signal to be built up over and over. Strictly speaking, the main RF oscillation still occurs: the detector starts to build up the incoming RF oscillation up to and slightly above oscillation level. But the net result is that most of the time the detector is amplifying the RF signal and is creating a free running RF oscillation in only a small portion of its quenching cycle. A big difference between a straight regen and a super regen is that there is no heterodyne (no squealing interference) as the set is tuned and operated.
The super regen uses far fewer components than more complex designs and it is easily possible to build VHF, UHF, and even microwave radio receivers that operate at microwatt power levels. These are ideal for remote sensing applications or where very long battery life is essential. Inkjet transfer for t-shirt heat transfer

Inkjet transfer or Inkjet photo transfer is a technique to transfer a photograph or graphic, printed with an inkjet printer onto textiles, cups, CDs, glass and other surfaces.
A special transfer sheet, usually ISO A4 size, approximately USD 1 per sheet, is printed on with a regular inkjet printer. The photo has to be printed as a mirror image.
T-shirt transfer
The transfer sheet is put upside-down onto a t-shirt or fabric and ironed (without steam) onto the cloth at 210. Some transfer sheets change color to signal that the transfer is finished. To create a glossy effect, the transfer sheet is removed after it has been cooled down. To create a matte effect, it is peeled off while still hot.
It is often a requirement of such "home made" garments that they be washed inside out, only in cold water, sometimes by hand, and not be tumble dried. The heat from washing or drying conventionally, or from ironing over the transfer area, can damage the transfer or cause it to separate. This all generally makes them less practical for frequent wear than purchased items. To fix the image for a longer lasting transfer: wash with one cup of vinegar on cold setting on the first wash.
Printable tattoos
Avery markets a product called printable tattoo for other surfaces than textiles, including skin, plastics, ceramics and glass. The film is put upside-down on the skin, made wet for 10 seconds and then removed. The ink is left on the skin.

History
Baldor Electric was founded in 1920 by Edwin Ballman and Emil Doerr. The name of the company was derived using part of each of their names. In 1967 the Company's headquarters were moved from St. Louis, Missouri to Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Baldor became a public company on January 15, 1976. In 1977, Fred Ballman, Chairman and CEO -- and son of founder Edwin Ballman -- appointed the Company's President, Roland S. Boreham, Jr. to the position of CEO. Mr. Boreham, who was the Company's Chairman from 1981 until 2004, passed away on February 5, 2006.
The Company's business guidelines are outlined by R.S. Boreham, Jr., in his book, "The Road Less Traveled: The History of Baldor 1976 - 2000":
"We have chosen to keep our manufacturing in the United States. We have chosen to have an independent sales force. We have chosen to follow our own pricing policies. We have chosen to augment our product lines rather than diversify. We have chosen to respond to economic downturns by maintaining our work force, continuing our research and development, and building inventories so we are ready when times improve. We have chosen to focus equally on our relationships with employees, customers, and shareholders."
Baldor introduced its line of Super-E premium efficient motors in 1983. In creating the Super-E motor, Baldor's goal was to create the most energy efficient motor on the market. In 1985, the white epoxy washdown duty motor line was introduced. In late 1989, Baldor purchased Sweo, allowing it to offer AC vector drives in addition to DC drive products. In the year following, Baldor developed AC vector motors for use with the vector controls.
Also in 1991, Baldor began its extremely successful customer education program, which continues to this day. Classes range from motor basics to intense drive programming and motion product courses. Classes are held at the Company's headquarters in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
In 1992, the U.S. government passed the Energy Policy Act of 1992. With this new set of rules, the government could set the minimum efficiency ratings required for AC motors. Baldor successfully met the October 1, 1997 deadline. Baldor Standard-E motors meet or exceed EPAct requirements. The line of Standard-E motors was chosen as "Product of the Year" by Plant Engineering magazine in 1998.
In 1996 alone, Baldor spent $19.9 million on research and development, correctly assuming that a large portion of future sales would depend on new product development.
In 1999, Baldor unveiled its highly customized computer system, with the help of SAP AG. Nicknamed the "Baldor Unified System" (BUS), the system allows district offices across North America to access to each other's warehouses, corporate engineering data, and customer information. In 2006, Baldor continued its tradition of education by introducing the BUS College, an employee education program focused on educating district office employees on the vast system available to them.
Also in 1999, Baldor received another Product of the Year Award with its new family of mini inverters, the Baldor 15J and 15P, from Plant Engineering magazine.
Presently, Baldor customers can gain access to their account information, including stock checks, placing and checking existing orders, and managing their accounting information via / BaldorVIP, an online progam connected to the Baldor BUS computer system.
In 2000, Baldor purchased Pow'R Guard, a generator manufacturer based in Wisconsin. Also in 2000, the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith, formally opened the Baldor Technology Center.
Baldor promotes its home-grown Value Formula. The Value Formula was publicly introduced in the 1990 Annual Report and remains a cornerstone of Baldor's customer service today:
V (Value Perceived by the customer) = Quality (Perceived) X Service (Perceived) / (Cost X Time).
Baldor has fifteen manufacturing plants across the U.S., as well as locations around the world (Australia, Canada, China, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, Singapore & Switzerland). There are forty district sales offices and warehouses located throughout North America.
On November 7, 2006, Baldor Electric initiated a purchase of the Dodge and Reliance Electric brands from Rockwell Automation for 1.8 billion dollars USD. The purchase was officially closed on January 1, 2007, making Baldor the single largest motor manufacturer in the world.

Music engraving is the art of drawing music notation at high quality for the purpose of mechanical reproduction. The term music copying is almost equivalent, though music engraving implies a higher degree of skill and quality, usually for publication. Plate engraving, the process the term originally referred to, became obsolete around 1990. The term engraving is now used to refer to any high-quality method of drawing music notation, particularly on a computer ("computer engraving" or "computer setting") or by hand ("hand engraving").

Traditional engraving techniques
Plate engraving: music was reproduced directly onto a zinc or pewter plate in mirror image. Staff lines were created by dragging a 5-pronged "scoring tool" across the plate, thus the designation, "score" for printed music. Fixed symbols, like note heads and clefs, were punched into the metal with dies, and variable symbols, such as beams or slurs, were engraved by hand.
Hand copying with pen and ruler, which if done by an expert music copyist can produce high-quality results (see below)

Hand copying
In the distant past, a musician was required to draw his own staff lines (staves) onto blank paper. Eventually, staff paper was manufactured pre-printed with staves as a labor-saving technique. The musician could then write music directly onto the lines in pencil or ink.
In the 20th century, music staff paper was sometimes printed onto vellum or onionskin: a durable, semi-transparent paper which made it easier for the musician to correct mistakes and revise his work, and also enabled copies of the manuscript to be reproduced through the ozalid process. Also at this time, a music copyist was often employed to hand-copy individual parts (for each performer) from a composer's full score. Neatness, speed, and accuracy were desirable traits of a skilled copyist.
Computer music engraving

With the advent of the personal computer since the 1980s, traditional music engraving has been in decline, as it can now be accomplished by computer software designed for this purpose. There are various such programs, known as scorewriters, designed for writing, editing, printing and playing back music, though only a few produce results of a quality comparable to high-quality traditional engraving. However, scorewriters have many advanced features, such as the ability to extract individual parts from an orchestral/band score, to transcribe music played on a MIDI keyboard, and conversely to play back notation via MIDI. Virtually all modern composers are expected to understand and be able to use this method to engrave their music.

A Leyland T45 tractor unit
A tractor unit, traction unit, road tractor or prime mover (Australian English) is a heavy-duty vehicle, usually with a large diesel engine and several axles. The tractor unit serves as a method of moving trailers. Trailers can be swapped between tractor units quickly so the unit does not stand idle whilst the load is unloaded or loaded, unlike a rigid, and is not restricted to one type of goods as trailer types can be swapped e.g. Bulk tipper to a box van. The tractor-trailer combination also means that a load can be shared across many axles, yet be more maneuverable than a equivalently sized rigid truck (see trucks). The tractor unit couples to the trailer using some sort of mechanical lock system, usually a fifth wheel. A tractor unit is primarily designated a freight vehicle and is most common in the heavy goods vehicle class of vehicles although smaller van based tractor units do exist.

Axle configuration
A tractor unit can have many axles depending on axle load legislation. The most common varieties are those of 4x2, 6x2 and 6x4 types, where a 6x4 has 3 axles with 2 of the axles driven. 6x4 units are more common in long distance haulage in larger countries such as the USA and Australia. In Europe, the 4x2 and 6x2 variants are more commonplace. Those with 3 axles or more can have more than one steering axle, which can be also driven. Most 6x2 units allow the undriven rear axle to be raised when lightly loaded or running without a trailer to save tyre wear and increase traction. The axle configurations are usually based upon axle load legislation and maximum GVWs. Heavier versions of tractor units, such as those used in heavy haulage and road trains, tend to have 4 or more axles with more than one axle driven. In certain countries (such as Switzerland), a certain amount of weight must be spread over driven axles which lead to heavier varieties having all wheel drive, otherwise
another tractor unit would have to be used. The heavy haulage variants of tractor-units are often turned into a ballast tractor by fitting temporary ballast because their chassis allows a high GVW which may go beyond the legal limit, hence requiring special permits.

A tractor unit can sometimes have a mounted crane located behind the cab. The tractor unit can still pull a trailer using its fifth wheel although it will carry less payload due to the extra bulk of the crane. A crane truck is able to lift its load on site, and usually comes with stabilizers like those on mobile cranes. These cranes can come in sizes from a few tones up to special heavy duty ones that can lift in excess of 80 ton/mtr for lifting containers and office units. Unlike a rigid truck with a crane, the tractor and crane have the advantage that they can be separated and repositioned relative to the load if necessary.
Tanker haulage
In the UK, tractor units which haul tankers carrying flammable liquids must be specially modified to reduce the fire risk. This includes using a fully insulated electrical system (neither side earthed to the frame) and enclosing all wiring in conduit.
Customization
In the USA and Australia in particular, owner drivers, and even fleet operators go to great lengths to customize their vehicle. This involves fitting larger exhausts, extra lights and custom paint among other things. Such tractor units attract lots of attention and can be beneficial for promoting their business, such tractors can be matched with a customized trailer. Some companies have one custom truck, or at least one tractor unit that is different or more powerful than the rest to act as a flag ship.
Regional variations
In the United Kingdom this type of "tractor" is often called an "artic",short for articulated lorry.
In the United States and Canada they are referred to as a Semi-trailer trucks .

A convector heater is a heater which operates by air convection currents circulating through the body of the appliance, and across its heating element. This heats up the air, causing it to rise and being replaced by colder air, and thereby creating a natural ventilation, warming the surrounding area.
A convection heater may have either an electrical heater element, hot water coil, or steam coil. Because of the natural ventilation, they are quieter in operation than fan heaters.

Scrap is a term used to describe recyclable materials left over from every manner of product consumption, such as parts of vehicles, building supplies, and surplus materials. Often confused with waste, scrap in fact has monetary value. In 2007 the United States' exported over 10 billion dollars worth of scrap steel.
Overall, the scrap industry processes more than 145 million tons of recyclable material each year into raw material feedstock for industrial manufacturing around the world. The industry contributed $65 billion in 2006 and is one of the few contributing positively to the U.S. balance of trade, exporting $15.7 billion in scrap commodities in 2006. This imbalance of trade has resulted in rising scrap prices during 2007 and 2008 within the United States. Scrap recycling also helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and conserves energy and natural resources. For example, scrap recycling diverts 145 million tons of materials away from landfills. Recycled scrap is a raw material feedstock for 2 out of 3 pounds of steel made in the U.S., for 60% of the metals and alloys produced in the U.S., for more than 50% of the U.S. paper industry needs, and for 33% of U.S. aluminum. Recycled scrap helps keep air and water cleaner by removing potentially hazardous materials and keeping them out of
landfills.
Scrap is often taken to a wrecking yard (also known as a scrapyard, junkyard, or breaker's yard), where it is processed for later melting into new products. A wrecking yard, depending on its location, may allow customers to browse their lot and purchase items before they are sent to the smelters although many scrap yards that deal in large quantities of scrap usually do not, often selling entire units such as engines or machinery by weight with no regard to their functional status. Customers are typically required to supply all of their own tools and labor to extract parts, and some scrapyards may first require waiving liability for personal injury before entering. Many scrapyards also sell bulk metals (stainless steel, etc) by weight, often at prices substantially below the retail purchasing costs of similar pieces.
In contrast to wreckers, scrapyards typically sell everything by weight, rather than by item. To the scrapyard, the primary value of the scrap is what the smelter will give them for it, rather than the value of whatever shape the metal may be in. An auto wrecker, on the other hand, would price the exact same scrap based on what the item does, regardless of what it weighs. Typically, if a wrecker can not sell something above the value of the metal in it, they would then take it to the scrapyard and sell it by weight. Equipment containing parts of various metals can often be purchased at a price below that of either of the metals, due to saving the scrapyard the labor of separating the metals before shipping them to be recycled. As an example, a scrapyard in Arcata, California sells automobile engines for $0.25 per pound, while aluminum, of which the engine is mostly made, sells for $1.25 per pound. Scrap prices are reported in a handful of U.S. publications, including American
Metal Market, based on confirmed sales.
Note that in the scrap metal industry a great potential exists for accidents in which a hazardous material present in scrap causes death, injury or environmental damage. A classic example is radioactivity in scrap; see the Goiania accident for an example of an accident involving radioactive material which entered the scrap metal industry and some details of the behavior of contaminating chemical elements in metal smelters. The general nature of many of the tools used in scrapyards such as Alligator shear, which cut metal using hydraulics give themselves the need for safety.

Applications
Induction heating allow the targeted heating of an applicable item for applications including surface hardening, melting, brazing and soldering and heating to fit. Iron and its alloys respond best to induction heating, due to their ferromagnetic nature. Eddy currents can, however, be generated in any conductor, and magnetic hysteresis can occur in any magnetic material. Induction heating has been used to heat liquid conductors (such as molten metals) and also gaseous conductors (such as a gas plasma). Induction heating is often used to heat graphite crucibles (containing other materials) and is used extensively in the semiconductor industry for the heating of silicon and other semiconductors.

Induction furnace
An induction furnace uses induction to heat metal to its melting point. Once molten, the high-frequency magnetic field can also be used to stir the hot metal, which is useful in ensuring that alloying additions are fully mixed into the melt. Most induction furnaces consist of a tube of water-cooled copper rings surrounding a container of refractory material. Induction furnaces are used in most modern foundries as a cleaner method of melting metals than a reverberatory furnace or a cupola. Sizes range from a kilogram of capacity to a hundred tonnes capacity. Induction furnaces often emit a high-pitched whine or hum when they are running, depending on their operating frequency. Metals melted include iron and steel, copper, aluminium, and precious metals. Because it is a clean and non-contact process it can be used in a vacuum or inert atmosphere. Vacuum furnaces make use of induction heating for the production of specialty steels and other alloys that would oxidize if heated in
the presence of air.
Induction welding
A similar, smaller-scale process is used for induction welding. Plastics may also be welded by induction, if they are either doped with ferromagnetic ceramics (where magnetic hysteresis of the particles provides the heat required) or by metallic particles.
Induction tube welding
Induction heating is used in the manufacture of seam welded tube. Currents induced in a tube run along the open seam and heat the edges resulting in a temperature high enough for welding. At this point the seam edges are forced together and the seam is welded. The RF current can also be conveyed to the tube by brushes, but the result is still the same - the current flows along the open seam, heating it.
Induction cooking
In induction cooking, an induction coil in the cook-top heats the iron base of cookware. Copper bottomed pans, aluminium pans and most stainless steel pans are generally unsuitable.
The heat induced in the base is transferred to the food via conduction. Benefits of induction cookers include efficiency, safety (the induction cook-top is not heated itself) and speed. Drawbacks include the fact that non-metallic cookware such as glass and ceramic cannot be used on an induction cook-top. Both installed and portable induction cookers are available.
Induction brazing
Induction brazing is often used in higher production runs. It produces uniform results and is very repeatable.
Induction sealing
Induction heating is often used in induction sealing or "cap sealing".
Heating to fit
Induction heating is often used to heat an item causing it to expand prior to fitting or assembly. Bearings are routinely heated in this way using mains frequency (50/60Hz) and a laminated steel transformer type core passing through the centre of the bearing. This is also referred to as induction shrink fitting.

History
Officially launched in spring of 2004, Bantam Apparel was originally branded solely within Ice Cold T-Shirts. It enjoyed mild success and was featured in a number of popular magazines including Rolling Stone and the San Francisco Weekly. One of its more popular designs was "We can't stop here, this is bat country" which was released shortly after the death of author Hunter S Thompson. Although creating a small following, Ice Cold T-Shirts did not reach mainstream success due to the sudden influx of other online t-shirt stores including Busted Tees and Threadless. Additionally, problems with new algorithm changes taking place in Google and the introduction of the sandbox effect made it very difficult for businesses launched after 2004 to compete with larger more established websites.
Development
In around the summer of 2005 the decision was made to separate Ice Cold T-Shirts into individually branded websites. Although the details of the individual sites themselves were not fully realized until later, the development of a more evolved and efficient product delivery system was initiated. The primary focus of these developments was to take into account what restrictions existed in the current infrastructure that could prevent expansion in the future using current business practice as reference.
The development period of this infrastructure was undefined but eventually reached finalization approximately a year later in the end of the summer of 2006. Officially launched on August 15th, 2006, Bantam Apparel was fully functional along with three stores.
Stores
Ice Cold T-Shirts was re-branded with a new look and logo and focussed on the entertainment portion of the original website. This included the categories popculture, clubbing and movies and television.
Echelon Shift took over the political, revolutionary and religious aspect of Ice Cold T-Shirts and was launched with various Libertarian and controversial logos. In addition to the logos themselves, Echelon Shift provided informational links and articles that introduced supporting evidence or thought provoking ideas related to the logo.
Ajanta.org was launched with a focus on the spiritual aspect of the original Ice Cold T-Shirts, with strong ties to Hinduism, Buddhism and other new age concepts. Similar to Echelon Shift, Ajanta.org provided informative articles relating to the particular logos. Due to the nature of the original site, Ajanta.org was released with very few logos as compared to the other two stores. However, this did tie in with the store as it was branded as a boutique shop more than an online t-shirt shop.
Controversy
Many logos distributed by Bantam Apparel and its stores have received criticism by visitors in the form of hatemail. Political shirts such as the "Bush Nazi" ("Bush" with the "s" replaced with a swastika) shirt, the "I had an abortion" shirt, and the "Unions Suck - If you don't like your job, go get an education" shirt have sometimes been the target of criticism.
Efforts to market the stores have sometimes been difficult with some of the content being marked as inappropriate to minors and generally offensive. On occasion, attempts to contract printing jobs have met with problems as some screen printing firms have been unwilling to print the content they deemed inappropriate.

Chessington World of Adventures is a theme park and zoo in south-west London, England. It lies 12miles from Central London, close to the A3 and M25 (junction 9 or 10). Historically a zoo, the theme park aspect of the attraction was added in 1987 with the installation of several rides and has expanded greatly since then.
The park has a selection of attractions, ranging from the Dragon's Fury roller coaster, to family-oriented rides such as the Bubbleworks. It also has animals, many of which can be seen from the Safari Skyway, an elevated monorail around the zoo. Since 1998 Chessington has been in the same ownership as nearby Thorpe Park. As a result of the close proximity of the two parks, it was decided to cater for two different markets, with Chessington being transformed into a family park.

Chessington Zoo

The zoo is one of the oldest areas in the park and is split in two. The west of the park is home to Trails of the Kings, a walkthrough attraction close to enclosures home to gorillas, tigers, lions and leopards. The east side is home to various smaller enclosures home to capybaras and otters, there is also a monkey and bird garden with a squirrel monkey walkthrough, a creature features exhibit home to rhea, wallabies and meerkats. Just outside the bird and monkey garden is the new children's zoo, home to goats, pigs, sheep and chickens.
There is also a sealion enclosure, which features shows several times a day, and Creepy Caves, a reptile house. Zookeepers on site care for the animals, many of which are endangered, and there is an active breeding programme.
Recently the animal section underwent an inspection and an outcome was that the gorilla enclosure was too small. The zoo has been warned that if the housing is not expanded by 2009 it may lose its licence to house its gorillas. The zoo is building a 22-acre enclosure, next to an animal encounters area which opened in 2006. There are rumours that the gorilla house will be replaced by an African experience exhibit and a new education centre, ready for the 2009 deadline.
In 2008, a Sea Life Centre opened on the site of the children's zoo. It is home to various tanks containing British and tropical fish. The centrepiece of the exhibit is the glass tropical tunnel home to sharks, rays and various tropical fish.
Beanoland
Beanoland (themed around The Beano comic) was introduced in 2000. The area opened with two rides: Roger the Dodger's Dodgems, and Billy's Whizzer; a wave-swinger with water fountains that squirt guests on the ride. In the following years, Dennis's Madhouse, an undercover play area relocated from the Millennium Dome, and the Bash Street Bus, a small magic carpet-type ride, were added. At the end of 2009, Beano will end the 9 year contract with Chessington, which may result in re-themeing all the rides in that area unless the park renews the contract for the 2010 season.

Surgical stainless steel is a specific type of stainless steel, used in medical applications.

Most surgical equipment is made out of martensitic steelt is much harder than austenitic steel, and easier to keep sharp. Depending on the type of equipment, the alloy recipe is varied slightly to get more sharpness, or strength.
Implants and equipment that are put under pressure (bone fixation screws, prostheses, body piercing jewelry), are made out of austenitic steel, often 316L and 316LVM, because it is less brittle.
316 surgical steel is used in the manufacture and handling of food and pharmaceutical products where it is often required in order to minimize metallic contamination. It is also used in the manufacture of body piercing jewelery and body modification implants.

The Paul-Janes-Stadion in Dseldorf-Flingern is one of Grounds from Fortuna Dseldorf (1930-1972 and 2002-Present Evasive). Since 1930. It is named according to the long-standing Dseldorf football national player Paul Janes.
After World War II, the British army took over the stadium. After a storm in 1958 the corrugated sheet roof was destroyed. In 1967 the clubhouse was established on the area from Fortuna Dseldorf.
During a removal of the Rheinstadion in the 1970 / the 80s the Paul-Janes-Stadion was a Bundesliga ground. It received in addition a Bundesliga suited floodlight installation.
Another removal took place in the 2001/2002 year, so that the Fortuna have a satisfactory ground after the demolition of the Rheinstadion. After completion of the LTU arena moved Fortuna Dusseldorf for the home matches in this big stadium.
In 2006 the stadium during the football world championship was in 2006 the venue for the biggest "publicly Viewing" arrangement in a non-world championship city in Germany. Coffee Republic is founded by brother and sister team Bobby and Sahar Hashemi, opening its first site in London's South Molton Street.
1998
The group enters the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) by reversing into Arion Properties. The group grows to 24 branches after opening 17 new sites between March and November and has by now expanded beyond the capital to York, Birkenhead, Newcastle and Manchester.
2000
July: Coffee Republic switches from AIM to the full list. At this point, it has 61 coffee bars and caf and announces plans to open 80 more by 2002.

March: Hashemi steps down as chief executive but continues as a non-executive director. He returns as executive chairman in the summer of 2002.
December: Coffee Republic buys the GoodBean coffee bar chain, gaining 12 outlets in south-east England and seven further sites under construction. The acquisition takes the group to 108 outlets.
2002
In July, the group announces plans to halt its expansion programme, sell underperforming bars and launch a strategic business review as annual losses grow. A number of takeover talks ensue with easyGroup, Benjys and Caff Nero. Benjys but all offers are rejected. Coffee Republic sells 13 sites to Starbucks and returns to an AIM listing.
2003
August: Coffee Republic unveils a survival plan to convert itself into a New York-style deli-bar chain called Coffee Republic Deli and whittle its numbers down to a core of 50 outlets. It pilots the concept at Baker Street and Exchange Street in London.

June: Coffee Republic sells eight outlets in Cardiff and southern England to Caff Nero.
2005
November: The group signs its first franchise deal and ends the year with four franchised outlets. It intends to retain just 10 to 15 bars under company ownership.
2006
October: Founder Bobby Hashemi is ousted in a shareholder revolt and the current chairman is Peter Breach.
2007
The company signs a franchise agreement, which will see the brand launched in Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and also Turkey.
June: First bar opening in Bulgaria in Burgas.

Bluefields Beach Park is a very popular public beach in the southeast of Westmoreland Parish, Jamaica. It gets very busy at weekends and holidays.
Bluefields Beach, Jamaica
The old road from Black River to Savanna-la-Mar is separated from the beach by only a low stone wall. However, this old road was replaced by a slightly more inland bypass in the 1990s and one now approaches the beach through gates from a junction at the western end of this bypass. As a result there is now extensive car parking on the approach road and within a gated Beach Park. The whole area can get very full on holidays. A further set of gates provides pedestrian access to the old road by the beach.
The beach is very narrow and about 1 km long. The beach itself was not always stony, and these stones seem to have been after hurrcain dean supplemented by rubble dumped to protect the wall from storm erosion . As a result the patches of sand are few and far between. The swimming is generally regarded as very good, although the exposed situation can result in uncomfortable waves if there are ocean swells.
There is little shade from the sun on the beach and no chairs or umbrellas are on offer. However, the Beach Park is located in a shady well wooded area and offers for a fee of $50 Jamaican the usual showering/changing/toilet facilities. The park also holds a number of small restaurants which are noted for their locally caught fish.

The karabinek wz. 1996 Mini-Beryl is a Polish 5.56 mm compact assault rifle (carbine) derived from the kbs wz. 1996 Beryl service rifle. It was developed in parallel with the wz. 1996 Beryl by the "?ucznik" Arms Factory in Radom and introduced into service with the Polish Armed Forces in 1997 as the 5,56 mm karabinek krotki wz. 1996 ("short carbine model 1996").

The Mini-Beryl design combines features from both the wz. 1989 Onyks carbine and the wz. 1996 Beryl rifle; the principle components that were modified include the barrel, barrel trunnion, upper and lower handguards, muzzle device and magazine. The weapon method of operation, the rotary bolt locking mechanism and ammunition are identical to those of the wz. 1996 Beryl standard rifle.
The 235mm (9.3in) barrel has 6 right-hand grooves and a rifling twist rate of 1 in 228mm (1:9 in) capable of firing both SS109 and M193 types of 5.56 mm ammunition with optimum performance from both. The barrel profile is nearly identical to the barrel of the wz. 89 Onyks carbine, it is however slightly longer to accommodate the modified gas block.
The muzzle device, externally similar to the muzzle attachment of the wz. 89 Onyks in appearance, has deeper-seated threading used to screw the flash suppressor into the gas block (it has a lower volume decompression compartment). The compensator has two symmetrical ports at the muzzle end of the device placed at a 90 angle in relation to each other. The muzzle attachment can also be used to fire rifle grenades to ranges up to 150 m using standard ball ammunition.
The magazine developed for the Mini-Beryl is shorter compared to the standard magazine of the Beryl and has a smaller capacity (20 rounds). Standard magazines from the Beryl can also be used. New magazines are molded from a translucent polymer allowing the shooter to visually monitor the level of ammunition.
The base of the rear sight unlike in the Onyks has cut-outs on its top surface running alongside it and used to mount a variety of optical sights or a Picatinny-type rail adapter. A variant of the Mini-Beryl is also offered with a MIL-STD-1914 Picatinny rail instead of the standard rear sight; a simple auxiliary rear sight is built into the rail. The standard rear sight and front post are provided with luminescent dots to assist aiming in poor light conditions.
The weapon gas block is longer than that of the Onyks and it features internal threading that is used to secure the muzzle device in place.
The Mini-Beryl has a twin-strut stock folding to the right-hand side of the receiver; the butt-plate is rubber. All furniture is high-impact black plastic. The handguards were developed specifically for the carbine.
The carbine bolt carrier and piston rod, gas cylinder, upper handguard and sighting system are identical to those used in the wz. 1989 Onyks, similarly, the receiver housing, dust cover trigger group and high-capacity magazine are the same as those in the wz. 1996 Beryl.
Standard equipment supplied with carbine includes three spare magazines (including one 20-round short magazine), four 15-round stripper clips, a stripper clip magazine guide, maintenance kit, cleaning rod (carried in the accessory pouch), sling, magazine and accessory pouch and oil bottle. The carbine can also be fitted with two side rails secured to the lower handguard (used to attach tactical accessories and illumination devices), a vertical forward grip and a blank-firing muzzle attachment.

TFT currently recognises the Forest Stewardship Council as the leading international forest certification scheme providing credible independent assurance that source forests are well managed. TFT helps its members to manage and monitor their supply chains and it helps the forests that anchor those supply chains to achieve FSC certification. TFT assists member companies to find out where their wood currently comes from. Having done so or having identified the reasons why it is impossible to do so the TFT helps its members to develop policies for where they want their wood to come from in the future. It then helps its members to identify ood wood sources: FSC certified forests that meet their product needs or, where these are lacking, Transition Wood Sources that are implementing or are ready to implement a strictly controlled Certification Action Plan with the TFT to achieve FSC certification.

Issues
In North America and Europe demand for FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified wood has led to many millions of forest hectares achieving certification. Tropical forest managers are often unsure of how to achieve certification and they face highly complex forest management contexts that make achieving certification difficult. Even securing wood from known legal sources is challenging in many tropical countries where enforcement systems are weak and illegal logging is common.

Fielding majolica is pottery made at the Railway Pottery in Stoke on Trent under the proprietorship of Simon Fielding (1827-1906) and Abraham Fielding. Majolica is a generic name given to the lead-glazed, brightly coloured earthenware that was originally developed by Mintons for the Great Exhibition of 1851.

Railway Pottery
The Railway Pottery was set up for the manufacture of high quality "General Ware and Art Ware" by Frederick Hackney and J. Kirkham, who had previously worked for Wedgwood. In 1878 Simon Fielding bought the company, which was subsequently known as S.Fielding and Co., and managed it with Abraham Fielding. Simon Fielding owned the Blyth Colour Works in Cresswell, Staffordshire, which gave the Railway Company direct control over important ceramic raw materials.
In 1879 the press praised the company for making "wonderful strides" and said, "majolica is equal to anything we have seen",[citation needed] but the company ran into debt. Abraham Fielding paid off the debts and took charge of the company. Hackney moved to Baltimore, United States to work for D.F.Haynes & Co. at the Chesapeake Pottery. In 1880, the Blyth Colour Works was sold to Piggot & Scarrott. The next ten years were the peak period for the manufacture of Fielding's pottery.
In 1893, a trade journal wrote of the Railway Pottery,
At the present time upwards of four hundred hands are employed by the firm, and there is every prospect of these being largely increased in the future. The reason of this success is not far to seek. The firm have aimed at the production of goods of artistic designs and excellent quality at the lowest possible prices, while by continually introducing novelties they have kept pace with the popular demand for something new. The consequence is that during the past five years the volume of the firm's business has been doubled. The firm's works, known as the Railway Pottery, is fitted up with all the latest machinery, driven by three powerful engines.
Abraham Fielding invented a patent down-draft kiln, in which the heat of the fire, instead of simply rising from the bottom of the oven up through the chimney at the top, rose and was then driven down through the centre of the kiln before rising through the chimney. This design distributed the heat more evenly in the kiln and reduced wear-and-tear.
The Railway Pottery was renamed the Devon Pottery in 1912 and developed the Crown Devon line.
Designs
By 1878 the Railway Pottery was making a range of majolica jugs, bread trays, oyster plates, etc.
Ten majolica designs were registered between 1881 and 1884 and were used on a huge range of goods: tea and coffee sets, dessert, fruit, ice cream and fish services, vases, jardinieres, cuspidors, jugs, tea pots and umbrella stands.
Umbrella stands were made in standard designs and designs incorporating goats, hares, ducks, cranes and a tree trunk with a girl skater. A Kate Greenaway stand was made, which contained figures on panels representing spring and autumn. Perhaps the most bizarre stand produced in 1879 showed: "The Ameer of Afghanistan running up a tree, in the shape of a monkey, to escape from John Bull, who is supposed to be shooting at him" (Pottery Gazette)
A fox fruit dish was described as follows: "The surface of this dish has a fine grouping of ferns and foliage and the handle or knob is formed by a well moulded fox that is intently watching a rabbit peeping from beneath a burrow."[citation needed]
The most popular designs were: fan, fan and insect, fan and scroll, fan and daisy, and other fan designs; ribbon and leaf, ribbon and daisy, shell and net, hummingbird and bamboo, pansy and fuschia; shell shapes, panels with birds, squirrels and other animals. The background colours are argenta white, turquoise, yellow, and cobalt blue. The oyster plates are highly prized, particularly in the USA.

Early majolica was stamped with a fleur de lys in a shield. Other marks are a diamond and the word Fielding. On 19th century majolica, all marks are impressed, not printed, but there are some black or, occasionally, purple painters' marks. Shell feet are often found.

When the University of Heidelberg hired Robert Bunsen in 1852, the authorities promised to build him a new laboratory building. Heidelberg had just begun to install coal-gas street lighting, so the new laboratory building was also supplied with illuminating gas. Illumination was one thing; a source of heat for chemical operations something quite different. Previous laboratory lamps left much to be desired regarding economy and simplicity, as well as the quality of the flame; for a burner lamp, it was desirable to maximize the temperature and minimize the luminosity. While his building was still under construction late in 1854, Bunsen suggested certain design principles to the university talented mechanic, Peter Desaga, and asked him to construct a prototype. The Bunsen/Desaga design succeeded in generating a hot, sootless, non-luminous flame by mixing the gas with air in a controlled fashion before combustion. Desaga created slits for air at the bottom of the cylindrical burn
er, the flame igniting at the top. By the time the building opened early in 1855, Desaga had made fifty of the burners for Bunsen's students. Bunsen published a description two years later, and many of his colleagues soon adopted the design.
Operation
Different flame types of Bunsen burner depending on flow through the throat holes (holes on the side of the Bunsen burner -- not to be confused with the needle valve for gas flow adjustment). 1. air hole closed (Safety flame) 2. air hole slightly open 3. air hole half open 4. air hole almost open (roaring blue flame)
The device in use today safely burns a continuous stream of an inflammable gas such as natural gas (which is principally methane) or a liquefied petroleum gas such as propane, butane, or a mixture of both.
The burner has a weighted base with a connector for a gas line (hose barb) and a vertical tube (barrel) rising from it. The hose barb is connected to a gas nozzle on the lab bench with rubber tubing. Most lab benches are equipped with multiple gas nozzles connected to a central gas source, as well as vacuum, nitrogen, and steam nozzles. The gas then flows up through the base through a small hole at the bottom of the barrel and is directed upward. There are open slots in the side of the tube bottom to admit air into the stream via the Venturi effect, and the gas burns at the top of the tube once ignited by a flame or spark. The most common methods of lighting the burner are using a match or a spark lighter.
The amount of air (or rather oxygen) mixed with the gas stream affects the completeness of the combustion reaction. Less air yields an incomplete and thus cooler reaction, while a gas stream well mixed with air provides oxygen in an equimolar amount and thus a complete and hotter reaction. The air flow can be controlled by opening or closing the slot openings at the base of the barrel, similar in function to the choke in a car's carburetor.
If the collar at the bottom of the tube is adjusted so more air can mix with the gas before combustion, the flame will burn hotter, appearing blue as a result. If the holes are closed, the gas will only mix with ambient air at the point of combustion, that is, only after it has exited the tube at the top. This reduced mixing produces an incomplete reaction, producing a cooler but brighter yellow which is often called the "safety flame" or "luminous flame". The yellow flame is luminous due to small soot particles in the flame which are heated to incandescence. The yellow flame is considered "dirty" because it leaves a layer of carbon on whatever it is heating. When the burner is regulated to produce a hot, blue flame it can be nearly invisible against some backgrounds. Increasing the amount of fuel gas flow through the tube by opening the needle valve will of course increase the size of the flame. However, unless the airflow is adjusted as well, the flame temperature will decr
ease because an increased amount of gas is now mixed with the same amount of air, starving the flame of oxygen. The blue flame in a Bunsen burner is hotter than the yellow flame.

"Panama" is the 42nd episode of the American television series Prison Break and is the 20th episode of its second season. The episode aired on March 19, 2007. The plot features the protagonists' escape to Panama while subplots include that of Sara Tancredi, Brad Bellick, Fernando Sucre, Theodore "T-Bag" Bagwell, Alexander Mahone and Benjamin Miles "C-Note" Franklin. Regarding the casting of this episode, Paul Adelstein (who plays Paul Kellerman) does not appear in this episode. This is Benjamin Miles "C-Note" Franklin's last appearance in the plot and series altogether.

Summary
The bag containing Charles Westmoreland's millions is passed from hand to hand at the Mexico City International Airport. The chain of custody ends with T-Bag (Robert Knepper). When the airport employee asks T-Bag about the contents of the bag, T-Bag simply gives him a 20 dollar bill and tells him it's none of his business.
Fernando Sucre (Amaury Nolasco) and Brad Bellick (Wade Williams) are also in the airport. When the three cross paths, T-Bag runs, takes a taxi cab, and rides away. Sucre runs after the cab and tells T-Bag that he really needs the money. Sucre is able to grab the luggage tags, while T-Bag tells the driver to drive faster.
When Bellick balks at the luggage tags being shown to him by Sucre and threatens his freedom, Sucre grabs Bellick's gun. Bellick replies that he has Maricruz in a hiding place, with enough food to last for only three weeks. Although he accuses Bellick of bluffing, Bellick produces Maricruz' rosary as proof, and Sucre realizes that he has no choice but to work for Bellick.
Bellick and Sucre go to the Mexico City Department of Tourist building. The man at the desk insists that there is no record of Erik Stammel. Sucre tells the agent in Spanish that he does not like "that gringo" (Bellick) either, but if he cannot find Stammel, then a loved one will die. The man at the desk appears to agree to apprise Sucre of any updates to T-Bag's whereabouts. He later calls Bellick's cell phone, who passes the phone to Sucre. Sucre informs Bellick that T-Bag is en route to Panama City.
A maid later enters T-Bag's hotel room, picks up the wig with a look of disgust on her face. T-Bag is on his way out of the hotel with his money, but is spotted by a Mexican police officer. He attempts to escape.
FBI Internal Affairs Agent Richard Sullins (Kim Coates) is an interrogation room with Agent Wheeler (Jason Davis) Sullins presents a deal to C-Note (Rockmond Dunbar); his eighteen year sentence (his original sentence in addition to penalties related to the escape) would become eighteen months.
C-Note balks at the offer, noting that the last time an offer was made to him, there was a string attached which he was to be hung at the end of. He further reasons that with Mahone's connections, he would not last eighteen days in custody and holds firm on his demand of being a free man. As C-Note calls for the guard to take him back to his cell, Sullins then offers no jail time, in addition to Witness Protection Program coverage for him and his family. C-Note agrees.
C-Note is later taken out of his cell, where he meets Kacee, Dede, and Richard Sullins. Sullins hands C-Note an envelope containing information pertaining to his new identity, as he advises C-Note to stay out of trouble and to attend the court dates. C-Note leaves the Cook County Correctional Facility with his wife and daughter.
Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) and Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) are aboard a freighter docked in Chicago, Illinois bound for Panama.
Sara Tancredi (Sarah Wayne Callies) is en route to the docks, as she hears about President Caroline Reynolds' resignation on the radio. Michael calls her, and they conclude it is best to disappear as he had originally planned.
FBI Agent Lang (Barbara Eve Harris) is tailing Sara, and informs Agent Alexander Mahone (William Fichtner) of their location. Mahone replies that he will be right there.
Sara realizes that she is being tailed by the authorities. Unwilling to lead them to Michael and Lincoln, Sara tells Michael by telephone that she is already aboard the ship and that she loves him. She then stops her car, and approaches Agent...(and so on)

Gas Works Park in Seattle, Washington is a 19.1 acre (77,000 m2) public park on the site of the former Seattle Gas Light Company gasification plant, located on the north shore of Lake Union at the south end of the Wallingford neighborhood. Gas Works park contains remnants of the sole remaining coal gasification plant in the US. The plant, which operated from 1906 to 1956, was purchased by the City of Seattle for park purposes in 1962, and the park was opened to the public in 1975. The park was designed by Seattle landscape architect Richard Haag, who won the American Society of Landscape Architects Presidents Award of Design Excellence for this project. It was originally named Myrtle Edwards Park after the city councilwoman who had spearheaded the drive to acquire the site and who died in a car crash in 1969. In 1972 the Edwards family requested that her name be taken off the park because the design called for the retention of much of the plant. In 1976, Elliott Bay Park was
renamed Myrtle Edwards Park.
Gas Works Park incorporates numerous pieces of the old plant. Some stand as ruins, while others have been reconditioned, painted, and incorporated into a children's "play barn" structure, constructed in part from what was the plant's exhauster-compressor building. A Web site affiliated with The Seattle Times newspaper says, "Gas Works Park is easily the strangest park in Seattle, and may rank among the strangest in the world."
Gas Works Park also features an artificial kite-flying hill with an elaborately sculptured sundial built into its summit. The park was for many years the exclusive site of a summer series of "Peace Concerts." These concerts are now shared out among several Seattle parks. The park also hosts one of Seattle's two major Fourth of July fireworks events. The park is the traditional end point of the Solstice Cyclists and the start point for Seattle's World Naked Bike Ride.
The park originally constituted one end of the Burke-Gilman bicycle and foot trail, laid out along the abandoned right-of-way of the Seattle, Lake Shore and Eastern Railway. However, the trail has now been extended several kilometers northwest, past the Fremont neighborhood towards Ballard.
Because it is built on a former industrial site, the soil and groundwater on the site was contaminated. The 1971 Master Plan called for "cleaning and greening" the site through bio-phyto-remediation. Although the presence of organic pollutants had been substantially reduced by the mid 1980s the US Environmental Protection Agency and Washington State Department of Ecology required additional measures including removing and capping wastes, and air sparging in the Southeast portion of the site to attempt to remove benzene that was a theoretical source of pollutants reaching Lake Union via ground water. There are no known areas of surface soil contamination remaining on the site today, although tar occasionally still oozes from some locations within the site and is isolated and removed.
Despite its somewhat isolated location, the park has been the site of numerous political rallies. Among these was a seven-month continuous vigil under the name PeaceWorks Park, in opposition to the Gulf War. The vigil began at a peace concert in August 1990 and continued until after the end of the shooting war. Among the people who participated in the vigil at one point or another were former congressman and future governor Mike Lowry, then-city-councilperson Sue Donaldson, sixties icon Timothy Leary, and beat poet Allen Ginsberg.
Gas Works Park has been a setting for films, such as Singles and 10 Things I Hate About You. It has been featured twice on the travel-based television reality show The Amazing Race--once as the finish line for Season 3 and another time as the starting line for Season 10.
The building is on the National Register of Historic Places and is also a Seattle City Landmark.

Peter Stumpf is the current principal cellist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. He was educated first at the Curtis Institute of Music and then the New England Conservatory. At age sixteen, he proceeded to start his his professional career as a cellist in the Hartford Symphony. He then spent twelve years as associate principal of the Philadelphia Orchestra before assuming his current position at the start of the Los Angeles Philharmonic's 2002/2003 season.
In addition to his position with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, he also serves as an avid chamber musician as the cellist of the Johannes String Quartet. He has also collaborated with numerous other musicians, including Emanuel Ax, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Mitsuko Uchida, and the Emerson String Quartet.
Stumpf is also well-known as a cello teacher, having taught at the New England Conservatory in addition to his current post at the USC Thornton School of Music.
Stolen Cello
On April 27, 2004, the General Kyd, a $3.5 million Stradivarius on loan to him from the Los Angeles Philharmonic, was stolen after he left it on his porch. It was discovered in a dumpster by Melanie Stevens, a 30 year old nurse, after a home surveillance video from across the street showed the cello being lifted by a clumsy thief on a bicycle at around 6:30 am. Stevens initially asked her boyfriend to turn it into a CD cabinet, though a week and a half later she caught a news report about the missing cello and the $50,000 reward for its return. She identified it on the police website and sought to return it, with the aid of a lawyer. The cello was played by English cellist Leo Stern at the premiere performance of Anton Dvo?'s Cello Concerto.

The first ball differential was patented in the early 20th century by an American engineer, for use in a lawn mower. In 1982 Cecil Schumacher, a British motorsport engineer, designed a ball differential for radio-controlled model cars. This was believed to be a new invention at the time, and the original American design was not found until Cecil Schumacher tried to patent the design. However radio-controlled cars were still a new application for the ball differential and Cecil Schumacher is regarded by many as the modern day inventor of the concept. Such was the popularity of the ball differential, originally applied in 1/12th on-road cars that Cecil Schumacher formed a company, Schumacher Racing Products.
To this date ball differentials remain very popular in the radio-controlled car market. They are used on almost every 1/12th on-road, scale touring car and electric off-road produced by many manufacturers. In these classes they are regarded as the industry standard. Schumacher Racing Products even use ball differentials on their nitro truck range, these however use strong materials and larger and harder ball bearings.
The Basic Principles
Radio-controlled car manufactures use the same basic design Schumacher created in the 1980. The main part of the differential is a drive gear (or pulley in a belt transmission) with multiple holes cut through it, following its outside diameter. These holes are slightly larger then the width of the ball bearings,so that the balls, commonly around 2 mm diameter in a model car, sit inside the holes of the gear/pulley.
On either side of the gear are the thrust washers. The thrust washers are pushed against the ball bearings inside of the gear by Belleville washers. On one side of the gear is an adjusting collar, which allows for adjustments in the amount of slip allowed by the differential . A thrust bearing (or thrust race), on the opposite side of the gear, is used to stop the differential from loosening the retaining screw holding the output cups, used to attach the differential to the axle, onto the differential.
As the screw is tightened it pushes the Bellivelle and thrust washers onto the gear/pulley. This creates contact between the washers and ball bearings inside of the gear/pulley. The friction created by the contact between the washers and ball bearings is, aided by grease (commonly silicone grease), designed so that as one washer moves, the ball bearings rotate.
As the washer on the opposite side of the gear rotates, the rotation of the balls causes the other washer to rotate in the opposite direction, because any rotating ball will have opposite sides moving in opposite directions .
Differential movement is achieved through the process of the thrust washers rotating with the ball bearings. The retaining screw is designed so the differential can be easily adjusted by tightening or loosening the screw, consequently changing force. This makes the differential more adjustable then geared differentials.

Ethylene vinyl acetate (CAS# 24937-78-8, also known as EVA) is the copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate. The weight percent vinyl acetate usually varies from 10 to 40%, with the remainder being ethylene.
It is a polymer that approaches elastomeric materials in softness and flexibility, yet can be processed like other thermoplastics. The material has good clarity and gloss, barrier properties, low-temperature toughness, stress-crack resistance, hot-melt adhesive water proof properties, and resistance to UV radiation. EVA has little or no odor and is competitive with rubber and vinyl products in many electrical applications.
EVA foam is used as padding in equipment for various sports such as ski boots, hockey, boxing, mixed martial arts, wakeboard boots, and waterski boots.
EVA is also used in biomedical engineering applications as a drug delivery device. The polymer is dissolved in an organic solvent (e.g., methylene chloride). Powdered drug and filler (typically an inert sugar) are added to the liquid solution and rapidly mixed to obtain a homogeneous mixture. The drug-filler-polymer mixture is then cast into a mold at -80 degrees and freeze dried until solid. These devices are used in drug delivery research to slowly release a compound over time. While the polymer is not biodegradable within the body, it is quite inert and causes little or no reaction following implantation.
Hot glue sticks are usually made from EVA, usually with additives like wax and resin. EVA is also used as a clinginess-enhancing additive in plastic wraps.
EVA is typically used as a shock absorber in sports shoes, for example. EVA can be recognized in many Crocs brand shoes and accessories, in the form of a foam called croslite.
It is also used in the photovoltaics industry as an encapsulation material for silicon cells in the manufacture of photovoltaic modules.
EVA is one of the materials popularly known as 'expanded rubber' or 'foam rubber'.

Direct download to the PSP over Wi-Fi. This can be performed by choosing "Settings", "Network Update" from the XMB.
Download to a PC, then transfer to the PSP via a USB cable or Memory Stick.
Included on the UMD of some games. These games may not run with earlier firmware than the version on their UMD.
Download from a PS3 to a PSP system via USB cable. (Japanese version only)
While system software updates can be used with consoles from any region, Sony recommends only downloading system software updates released for the region corresponding to the system's place of purchase. System software updates have added various features including a web browser, Adobe flash support, additional codecs for images, audio, and video, PlayStation 3 connectivity, as well as patches against several security exploits, vulnerabilities, and execution of homebrew programs. If the power supply is lost while writing to or updating the system software, the console will no longer be able to boot unless the system is booted from a different source such as a battery in service mode where it can be restored.
The latest reported firmware version shipping pre-installed on new PSPs is 4.20, which was released on October 14, 2008.

Production information
The Outer Limits originally was broadcast from 1963 to 1965 on the U.S. television broadcasting network ABC; in total, 49 episodes. It was one of many series influenced by The Twilight Zone and Science Fiction Theatre, though it ultimately proved influential in its own right. In the un-aired pilot, the series was titled Please Stand By, but ABC rejected it. Series creator Leslie Stevens retitled it The Outer Limits. With a few changes, the pilot aired as the premiere episode, "The Galaxy Being".
Writers for The Outer Limits included creator Stevens and Joseph Stefano (screenwriter of Hitchcock's Psycho), who was the series' first-season producer and creative guiding force. Stefano wrote more episodes than any other writer for the show. Two especially notable second-season episodes "Demon With a Glass Hand" and "Soldier" were written by Harlan Ellison.
The first season combined science-fiction and horror, while the second season was more focused on "hard" science-fiction stories, dropping the recurring scary monster motif of the first season. Each show in the first season was to have a monster or creature as a critical part of the story line. First-season writer and producer Joseph Stefano believed that this element was necessary to provide fear, suspense, or at least a center for plot development. This kind of story element became known as "the bear". This device was, however, mostly dropped in the second season when Stefano left. (First-season episodes without a "bear" are Forms of Things Unknown and Controlled Experiment both of which were produced as pilots for other never-realized series and then re-edited as Outer Limits episodes; and the early episode The Hundred Days of the Dragon made before the "bear" convention was established. Aventures ectroniques (Electronic Adventures) is the fourth book from Yoko Tsuno comic book series written by Roger Leloup and published in 1974. (ISBN 2-8001-0669-7) This album is a collection of short earth-based adventures which involve the use of technology. It is the only album out of the series to feature short stories, one of them only 2 pages long. Chronologically, the first four stories seem to be placed in the time period before Le Trio de l'range, and the last two stories afterwards.
Plot Summary
Hold-up en hi-fi (Hold-up in Hi-fi)
One morning Yoko enters a bank to make a money transfer to Japan. Suddenly a loud rumbling sound shakes the block, and the police station next door receive a call that a department store in the city center has collapsed. The police under the leadership of Commissioner Lebrun scramble, leaving only one man to monitor the bank. Just then, a team of bank robbers enter the bank while an accomplice knocks out the remaining officer. Yoko fights - and defeats - two of the robbers, but a submachine gun pressed into her back forces her to relent. In the meantime, the police arrives at the store - only to see it standing intact, as it should.
When Lebrun is wondering about the rumbling sound, Yoko provides a hint about a truck which had been parked before the bank. Indeed, it contains stereo equipment and speakers, and a tape with the rumbling on it, but the speakers are too weak. But the same evening, as Yoko takes a stroll in the city, she comes upon two movie spectators discussing the effect of the stereo sound system in the theater.
This comment sparks a suspicion, and above the bank building Yoko indeed discovers the gang as they dismantle two giant speakers and stereo equipment hidden atop the roof. Although she is discovered and locked in, she manages to activate the equipment (which is still hooked up), alerting the police, and then throws a polyester audio tape off the roof, leading the police to the culprits.
L'ange de No?l (The Christmas Angel)
Just at Christmas Eve Yoko receives a call from an industrial tycoon who wants his stereo equipment repaired for his Christmas party at home. Chagrined about this, Yoko drives off with her moped and clips a little girl named Annie, who wanted to take a cake (which gets mashed in the accident) from a charity party to her impoverished parents. Upon hearing that her her father is a welder by trade (but without a job), she decides to accept the assignment after all and cuts a deal with the industriant to hire the man for his steel mills. Bursting into the family with this delightful surprise, Yoko is invited for a Christmas dinner with Annie's family.
La belle et la be (The Beauty and the Beast)
During a night tour on her moped, Yoko witnesses a hulking figure attacking two policemen. She races to help - and finds that her attacker is a regular neanderthal, who is strong enough to lift an entire police car and throw it at her! In the fight, she manages to pick up a police pistol and shoots her attacker, clipping him at the leg. The figure immediately turns tail, and Yoko pursues him.
The chase ends at the local natural history museum, where Yoko finds several things: an empty display case for a neanderthal; a pool of hydraulic oil just beneath the case; and a lab worker who claims that he has been struck down by an attacker - but a trail of oil leads Yoko to a nearby locker, where she discovers an exoskeleton and a neanderthal disguise. The man turns to flee, throwing a bottle of spiritus at a bunsen burner which starts a fire; and two bottles of ether beneath the lab table threaten to blow the room apart. In a last-ditch attempt, Yoko uses the exoskeleton to escape the blast, lands before the culprit and throws him into the next tree just as the police arrives. The pilot then reveals that the area is actually closed off because of an important political conference taking place in the vicinity.

Litz wire is a special type of wire used in electronics. The wire is designed to reduce the skin effect and proximity effect losses in conductors. It consists of many thin wires, individually coated with an insulating film and twisted or woven together, following a carefully prescribed pattern often involving several levels (groups of twisted wires are twisted together, etc.).

Principle of operation
Litz wire reduces the impact of the skin effect and the proximity effect.
Skin Effect
The resistance of an isolated conductor at DC (0 Hz) depends on its cross sectional area. A conductor with a larger area has a lower resistance. The skin effect causes that resistance to increase for AC currents.
For low frequencies, the effect is negligible. For AC current at frequencies high enough that the skin depth is small compared to the conductor size, the skin effect causes most of the conduction to happen at the conductor's surface. At high enough frequencies, the interior of a large conductor does not carry much current. At 60 Hz, the skin depth of a copper wire is about ? inch (8 mm). At 60 kHz, the skin depth of copper is about about 0.01 inch (0.254 mm). At 6 MHz, the skin depth is about 0.001 inch (25.4 ?m). Round conductors larger than a few skin depths don't conduct much current near their axis, so that material isn't used effectively.
When larger area conductors are needed, tricks are used to minimize the skin effect. The goal is to increase the conducting surface area. One trick is to use a hollow conductor with a wall that is about a skin-depth thick. It is essentially a fat wire with the non-current carrying interior deleted. It is bulky, but it saves copper.
Litz wire uses some different tricks. Instead of using one big conductor, it uses lots of little conductors (strands) in parallel (forming a bundle). Each little conductor is less than a skin-depth, so an individual strand does not suffer an appreciable skin effect loss. However, that is not the complete story. The strands must be insulated from each other -- otherwise all the wires in the bundle would short together, look like a single large wire, and still have skin effect problems. Furthermore, the strands cannot occupy the same radial position in the bundle: the electromagnetic effects that cause the skin effect would still disrupt conduction. The bundle is constructed so the individual strands are on the outside of the bundle (and see low resistance) for a time, but also reside in the interior of the bundle (where the EM field changes are the strongest and the resistance is higher). If each strand sees about the same average resistance, then each strand will contribute e
qually to the conduction of the entire cable.
The weaving or twisting pattern of litz wire is designed so individual wires will reside for short intervals on the outside of cable and for short intervals on the inside of the cable. This allows the interior of the litz wire to contribute to the cable's conductivity.
Another way to explain the same effect is as follows: the magnetic fields generated by current flowing in the strands are in directions such that they have a reduced tendency to generate an opposing e.m.f. in the other strands. Thereby, for the wire as a whole, the skin effect and associated power losses when used in high-frequency applications are reduced. The ratio of distributed inductance to distributed resistance is increased, relative to a solid conductor, resulting in a higher Q factor at these frequencies.
Proximity effect
In cases involving multiple wires, or multiple turns, such as windings in transformers and inductors, proximity effect causes losses to increase at high frequency even sooner and more rapidly than does skin effect.
Effectiveness
Terman provides an expression for the ratio of resistance to alternating current to resistance to direct current for a single litz wire. It does not apply to windings with multiple turns. An expression for the resistance ratio in windings is given by Sullivan .
Litz wire is very effective below 500kHz; it is rarely used above 2MHz as it is much less effective there.
Applications
Litz wire is used to make inductors and transformers, especially for high frequency applications where the skin effect is more pronounced and proximity effect can be an even more severe problem. Litz wire is one kind of stranded wire, but, in this case, the reason for its use is not the usual one of avoiding complete wire breakage due to material fatigue.

An Fnne (The Organisation)
Two Irish language organisations, An Fnne ("The Ring" or "The Circle" in Irish) and The Society of Gaelic Writers, were both founded in 1911 by Piaras Bsla (1881-1965).
They were intended to work together to a certain extent, the former promoting the language and awarding those fluent in its speaking with a Fnne r (Gold Ring) lapel pin, whilst the latter would promote and create a pool of quality literary works in the language. From an early time, An Fnne used the postal address of 25 Parnell Square, the same as Conradh na Gaeilge, but at least at first, the organisations were officially separate.
The effectiveness of the organisation was acknowledged in the Dl on 6 August 1920, when Richard Mulcahy, the Sinn Fn TD for Clontarf suggested that a league on the model of the Fnne for the support of Irish manufactures might be established.
The Original Fnne
The Fnne lapel pins were, at first, a limited success. They appealed more to Nationalists and Republicans, for whom the language was generally learnt as adults as a second language. The appeal to people for whom Irish was the native tongue was limited. They spoke Irish, as did everyone from their village, so there was no point whatsoever wearing a pin to prove it, even if they could have afforded one, or for that matter, even known they existed.
In the early 1920s, many people who earned their Fnne did so in prison, the majority of these being anti-treaty IRA Volunteers during the Irish Civil War.
Recognition
The consistently high standard required to qualify for the Fnne at this time made them quite prestigious, and there are many reports of people being recruited as night-school teachers of Irish based purely on the fact they wore the pin.
The President of the Executive Council of the Irish Free State, W. T. Cosgrave acknowledged the Fnne on 8 February 1924 as an indicator of Irish Language proficiency.
Demise
The fact that the underlying reason many Fnne wearers had studied Irish was for political reasons, meant that the semi-independence of the Irish Free State, and the later complete independence of the Irish Republic, along with a period of relative peace in the new province of Northern Ireland, meant they had, to some extent, achieved their aim. Twenty years or so later, a Fnne would be a very rare sight indeed. Due to lack of demand they were no longer manufactured, and the organisation had fizzled out.
An Fnne Nua
Conradh na Gaeilge attempted a revival of the Fnne, which, for a short time at least, became a major success. The New Fnne (An Fnne Nua), was marketed with the slogan "Is duitse an Fnne Nua" - meaning "The New Fnne is for you!."
It came in three varieties:

The promotional leaflet stated "An Fnne Nua r do Ghaeilgeoir lfa os cionn seacht mbliana dg arbh Gaeilge is rogha leo labhairt ar gach d is fdir." Basically, this meant it was for fluent Irish language speakers over 17, who would choose to speak Irish wherever possible.
An Fnne Nua Airgid (The new Silver Fnne)
The promotional leaflet stated "An Fnne Nua Airgid do Ghaeilgeoir idir 12-17 mbliana ar fonn leo Gaeilge a labhairt ar gach d is fdir." Basically, this meant it was for Irish language speakers aged 12-17, who would speak Irish wherever possible. A point worth noting is the lack of the word, lfa. This implied you did not have to be (as) fluent to obtain this.

The Warehouse is the official fan association for Dave Matthews Band. Founded on December 4, 1998, Warehouse gives fan early access to concert tickets, exclusive CDs and merchandise to its members. The current fee for membership is $35 per year, up from the original price of $30.
Warehouse is run by Musictoday, a Charlottesville, Virginia-based company run by DMB manager Coran Capshaw. The success of the Warehouse led to Musictoday running similar online fan clubs for other major artists. Musictoday was recently acquired by major concert promoter Live Nation.

Distribution of Tickets
The primary benefit of a Warehouse membership is the opportunity for fans to purchase tickets before they go on sale to the general public. Fans submit ticket requests during the "request period," which typically lasts two weeks. These submissions are put into a random lottery and confirmations are often posted within a month, but always before the public on-sale date through Ticketmaster, or other outlets. Finally, seat locations are withheld until after the public on-sale and may not be posted until the tickets ship, a month prior to the concert, in an effort to deter scalping by members.
For the Dave Matthews Band tours from 1999-2001, the allotment of tickets was provided to fans via a lottery, weighted toward seniority. Members who joined in the Warehouse's earlier years got better seat locations than newer members.
In 2002, with the band playing smaller venues, and in an attempt to attract new members, Warehouse adopted a new "random seniority" method. Seniority now only applies to the ticket allotment of some concerts, and not others. Fans are not told in advance which shows will utilize the seniority method, until the pre-sale has been completed and the non-refundable tickets have been paid for.
In 2003, Seniority was not in effect for the Warehouse distribution of tickets for the Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds acoustic tour.
Later that year, when Dave Matthews Band played a free concert at Central Park in New York, New York, tickets were given to all Warehouse members that requested them, only charging them for postage via FedEx or UPS. Outside of the Warehouse allotment, few tickets were available to the general public.
Warehouse membership packages
Starting in 1999, Warehouse club members received an annual gift package. Membership packages are mailed to members that joined or renewed in that year. After the original package in 1999, all membership packages included an exclusive Warehouse CD. All of these CDs, except for one (see 2001), are Warehouse 5 volumes and contain five live tracks from various tours. In 2003, the first Warehouse 8 volume was released and distributed to those who had been members for three years or more. The Warehouse 8 releases have three additional tracks.

Slickline is a term for a tool of conveyance used generally in oil and gas well servicing. Slickline looks like a long, smooth, unbraided wire, often shiny, silver/chrome in appearance. It comes in varying lengths, according to the depth of wells in the area it is used (it can be ordered to specification) up to 35,000 feet in length. Slickline is spooled onto a hydraulically controlled drum in the back of a wireline truck. The wireline truck is driven out to the wellsite, and specialized equipment designed to keep high pressure and well fluids contained, while allowing the slickline to run deep down the hole of the oil/gas well is 'rigged up'. Downhole tools, which are long, and tubular shaped, with various mechanisms on them, are lowered via the slickline to the appropriate depth, whereupon they carry out their tasks. The operator of the wireline truck controls the drum at surface, monitoring the depth which is measured from a surface point, and the weight, which informs the operator via a sensitive gauge attached to the wire what is happening downhole. Upon completion of that step of the job, they are pulled back to surface via the slickline, which generally stays attached to the 'toolstring'. Slickline comes in different grades, meant to maintain a balance between being strong enough to support the weight of itself, the toolstring, and restrictions encountered downhole without breaking, and also corrosive and dangerous gases and fluids that occur in oil and gas wells. Shiny slickline (ie: 316 Stainless Steel, GD 31 Molybdenum), depending on the metalurgy, is generally used for more corrosive wells, or wells with H2S poisonous gas, or CO2, which can drastically affect metal performance. Dark grey slickline (ie: plow steel), which has the colour of a new, grey nail, but which rusts easily, generally has a higher strength than the more exotic metalurgies of the same diameter; however, it is more adversely affected by bad well conditions and therefore is usually only used in 'sweet' wells. As well depths have increased over the years since the first measuring lines were brought into use, accompanied by increased working loads, it has become necessary to develop wireline having a high strength/weight ratio. This is known as slickline. There is a need for strength to accomplish the operation without the wire breaking, and a need to keep the diameter of the wire as small as possible for the following reasons:
It reduces the load of its own weight
It can be run over smaller diameter sheaves, and wound on smaller diameter spools or reels without overstressing by bending
It keeps the reel drum size to a minimum
It provides a small cross-section area for operation under pressure
The sizes of solid wireline in most common uses are: 0.108ins and 0.125ins diameter, and are obtainable from the drawing mills in one-piece standard lengths of 18,000, 20,000, 25,000 and 30,000 ft.

Slickline tools operate with a mechanical action, controlled from surface in the wireline trucks operators compartment. Typically, this mechanical action is accomplished by the operation of jars. There are generally two types of jars, mechanical and hydraulic. Mechanical jars look like a long, tubular piece of machined metal that slides longer or shorter approximately 75% to 90% of its total length. They give the effect of hammering on the downhole tools. The weight or hit of the 'hammer' depends on how much sinker bar is added above the jars. Generally, a slickline operator controls the downhole tools with taps and hits from the sinker bar via the mechanical jars, controlled at surface by lowering or raising the toolstring and monitoring weight, depth, and pressure. Mechanical jars for slickline can hit up or down the hole, making them a versatile form of jarring. Hydraulic jars for slickline are generally meant to jar up only, because not enough sinker bar is able to feasibley lubricated in to jar down on the downhole tools. Hydraulic jars work by the operator pulling up on the line, which puts an upward force on the top of the hydraulic jars. The bottom of the hydraulic jars is usually attached by threaded connection to the mechanical jars, which are attached to the downhole tools. Depending on how hard the operator pulls on the hydraulic jars will affect how fast they hit, and how hard they hit. when the top is pulled on, the inner mandrel begins to slide upwards.
